LOS ANGELES &- The Horned Frog football team has won 24 straight regular season games, posted a 35-3 record over the last three seasons and reached back-to-back BCS games. Still, head coach Gary Patterson's mindset has not changed in 10 seasons at the helm.

Lady Frogs beat Texas Southern 76-55

The TCU women's basketball team used a strong second half performance Thursday night to down Texas Southern, 76-55, at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Leading by only one at the break, the Horned Frogs shot nearly 68 percent from floor in the second half of play, including 83.3 percent from behind the arc, to pull-away following the 15-minute intermission. TCU's bench did most of the damage, scoring 23 second half points.

Overall, the Purple and White's bench outscored TSU, 33-15, Thursday night.

Frogs beat Chicago State 99-72

The Frogs kept up their solid offense Tuesday night as they beat Chicago State 99-72 at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

Freshman forward Amric Fields and junior guard J.R. Cadot both scored career highs. The Frogs remained hot from the field at home, shooting 50 percent from the floor for the sixth time in eight games at the DMC.

TCU improved to 9-4 overall and 7-1 at home, while Chicago State dropped to 3-13 overall.

Frogs kick off game week in Pasadena

The Horned Frogs kicked the week off with a bang at a welcome ceremony for the 97th Rose Bowl Game at Disneyland Resort Sunday.

Coach Gary Patterson, linebacker Tank Carder, quarterback Andy Dalton, safety Tejay Johnson and center Jake Kirkpatrick joined Tournament of Roses President Jeff Throop, Disneyland Resort VP Jon Storbeck and Mickey Mouse for the opening ceremony.

Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema and four Badger players were also present. Both coaches were presented with a crystal replica of Sleeping Beauty Castle, which served as the backdrop for the ceremony.

Horned Frogs take on Chicago State

The Frogs begin their final three-game stretch of the non-conference schedule Tuesday, Dec. 28 against Chicago State.

TCU, 8-4 overall on the campaign, hopes to continue its successful run at home this season. The Frogs are 6-1 at the DMC, including a 96-79 victory over Northwestern State in their most recent outing Dec. 21.

The Frogs are outscoring opponents by an average of 14.6 ppg at home while shooting 51.2% overall from the field.

Four Horned Frogs picks for Preseason All-American

TCU leads the nation with four selections for Preseason All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Matt Purke was a first-team selection, while Steven Maxwell garnered second-team recognition. Kyle Winkler and Jason Coats were tabbed third-team selections.

Purke led the nation in 2010 with a perfect 16-0 record. The consensus National Freshman of the Year fanned a team-high 142 batters in 116 1/3 innings pitched. He limited opponents to a .212 batting average against and posted a 3.02 ERA in 20 appearances.

Fall commencement honors graduates and faculty

TCU bestowed degrees on 807 students at Fall Commencement in a formal ceremony held in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on December 18, 2010.

The university graduated students from 28 states, including Texas, and 19 foreign countries. Students received their diplomas from Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr.

J. Luther King, Jr., outgoing chairman of the TCU Board of Trustees delivered the commencement address. Besides those who received bachelor's degrees, there were 194 master's degree candidates, 16 doctoral candidates and 23 Brite Divinity School graduate candidates.

Larry Brogdon drove his '55 Chevy from California to Fort Worth to claim a Horned Frog football scholarship. Quarterback of the freshman team, he was at practice one day when he looked up to see an imposing man crouching at the sidelines, holding a pipe and intently observing the play.

"I want to introduce you to my dad," said Steve Howell, one of the team's receivers, leading Mr. Brogdon to the sidelines. It was the beginning of a relationship that would last more than three decades.
