A student ministry group hopes to "Ignite" faiths of all kinds by congregating together for one day each week.

Women, men, friends, strangers, art majors, business majors.

Whether it be by word of mouth, t-shirts, or candies, many students have found out about Ignite and have taken the time out of their day at 9 p.m. every Monday for four weeks to come worship.

A student has brought the group back to campus in hopes to save animals before it's too late.

One student organization partnered with a local non-profit organization to raise money and awareness for their common cause.

Sophomore Lora Choi decided to bring the student-organization People for Animal Well-Being, or PAW, back on-campus this year. She set a goal to raise awareness about animal cruelty among students.

Golfer receives honors three years running

Senior golfer Melissa Loh was named to the National Golf Coaches Association's All-America Scholar Team for the third year in a row.

It's the third straight year Loh has received the honor and the 12th-consecutive season that TCU has been represented on the squad. Loh is the first Horned Frog to be an All-America Scholar in three consecutive years since Camille Blackerby appeared on the team all four years at TCU (2004-07).

Football team ranks high on preseason polls

The football team has tied with Nebraska in a composite average of preseason top-25 polls by six major magazines.

The magazines used in the analysis were Phil Steele's College Football Preview, Sporting News, Athlon Sports, Lindy's, Yahoo! Sports and Dave Campbell's Texas Football.



The Horned Frogs' highest ranking was fourth by Phil Steele's.



TCU returns 16 of 22 starters, including nine from a defensive unit that has led the nation in total defense each of the last two seasons.

Which sounds better to you: Staying in your dorm room located on an empty campus, or staying in a motel room for the duration of Winter Break?

Unless the motel in question happens to be in walking distance of the Las Vegas strip or some other interesting place, students would probably prefer to stay in their own room, even if it is a dorm.

But international students who can't make it home for break don't have that option. They have to seek refuge for the holidays with friends or at hotels.

FORTWORTH, Texas -- A recently established student-run campus ministry has caught fire with university students in the past several weeks.

More than 500 students attended Monday night's Ignite college worship. Students from University of North Texas and Texas A&M University joined Horned Frogs at the third Ignite meeting.

Paige Nettles, a senior fashion merchandising major, pioneered Ignite last semester. Nettles said the goal of the nondenominational ministry is to bring college students together to worship and hear the gospel in a comfortable setting.

FORTWORTH,Texas -- A convicted burglar was arrested Monday on charges of burglarizing TCU residence halls, TCU Police said.

Police say they have caught the burglar who broke into two on-campus residences earlier this month while the occupants were asleep.

Fort Worth police arrested Richard Henry Ramfield, 28, at 9 a.m. Monday on charges of burglary of habitation. TCU Police said Ramfield is suspected of stealing a PlayStation, money and a wallet. Ramfield was released from the penitentiary Sept. 1 on similar charges, said TCU Police Sgt. Kelly Ham.

FORTWORTH, TX -- The volleyball team ended its spring play Saturday and is aiming to advance further this upcoming season after its first NCAA tournament appearance in the fall.

Head coach Prentice Lewis said the team is excited for next season and could be the most gifted that she has coached in her eight years at the university.

"We are going to have a very dynamic team, a very athletic team, and as long as everything comes together we'll be a pretty darn good team," Lewis said.

Two players who will be key to the team are the Hester sisters, Irene and Kristen.
