Horned Frogs rack up watch lists and honors

A total of seven Frog football players have received preseason All-America honors from various organizations, with six Horned Frogs appearing on watch lists for national awards; Head coach Gary Patterson is also up for an honor.

Senior Tejay Johnson, a preseason All-America safety, has been added to the 2010 Jim Thorpe Award watch list, an award which is presented to the nation's best defensive back.

The Jim Thorpe Award is named after arguably history's greatest all-around athlete. Recognized in the Pro Football Hall of Fame simply as "The Legend," Thorpe also played professional baseball and won Olympic gold medals in the decathlon and pentathlon.

Yesterday was April 15, and people rushed, pushed and honked many horns to get their taxes into the post office.

Despite what you hear from both conservatives and liberals, a libertarian, like me, is not against government and taxes. That's what we call an anarchist. However, I do have my complaints about the tax system and believe there could be some wealth-producing changes.

Our system is way too complicated. It's so complicated, in fact, that many people hire someone to do their taxes.

Dave Borelli, previously head coach for the men's tennis team, has been named the new head coach of the women's program, a university official announced Wendnesday.

Chris Del Conte, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, said that Borelli, who spent the last four seasons as coach of the TCU men's team, will move back to exclusively coaching the Frog women, a role he previously held for four years from 2002 through 2006.

They wear cowboy hats. They rope outside of the Winthrop Rockefeller Building. But ranch management students are more than just cowboys. They are all-around Southern businessmen with a dress code, a code of conduct and a sound knowledge of all the ins and outs of the ranching industry.

Jeffrey Geider, Director of the Institute of Ranch Management, said, "They learn how to manage the entire resource. They're really business people learning business practices and principles as it applies to agricultural management."
