Police search for man who exposed himself on campus

TCU Police officers said they are searching for a man who exposed himself to a female student around 5 p.m. Sunday in front of Sherley Hall. The student said she observed the man walking between Colby and Sherley halls talking with female students.

Sgt. Kelly Ham said he did not know who those students were.

Ham said the student reported that the suspect said a crude comment, exposed himself and began masturbating.

The suspect then walked away toward the Starpoint School.

Man accused of harassing, gets warning

TCU Police apprehended a suspect after he was seen by a TCU groundskeeper harassing a female student behind Smith Entrepreneurs Hall on Monday.The suspect was held by TCU Police officers and issued a criminal trespassing warning for being on campus and not having any business with the university, TCU Police Cpl. Brad Murphey said.

Murphey said the warning means that if the suspect is seen on campus again, he will be arrested on sight.

TCU Police described him as a 17-year-old male.

Mavericks dancer to judge singing competition

American Idol hopefuls won't be the only contestants singing for a live audience tonight. Like the popular national singing competition, TCU students will sing in front of a panel of judges and audience members. However, in a unique twist, contestants will have the opportunity to sing songs in different languages.

Roland Guerrero, president of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Inc., said he came up with the idea of hosting a karaoke-type event after watching American Idol and hearing about the British, Australian and Mexican idol competitions.

Rebels beat Lady Frogs at tourney

The Lady Frogs were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday in the opening round by the Mississippi Rebels, putting TCU's season to an end. The 22-10 Rebels, who were the No. 7 seed in the Dayton Regional, sent the No. 10-seeded Lady Frogs home from Connecticut with an 88-74 loss.

It was Ole Miss' first NCAA Tournament win since 1994, and TCU's first time not to advance to the second round in five of the last six seasons.

Many college students listen to music while multitasking with many other activities: doing their homework, walking to class or driving their cars. Music plays a major part in a college student's life, where local bands thrive by word of mouth or other unknown music groups gain popularity through repeated play. Personally, because of many people I have met, friends I have made, concerts or clubs I have attended, my musical tastes have adapted, molded and expanded due to these actions and changes in my life.

Pitchers Jake Arrieta and Taylor Cragin led the Horned Frogs (13-6) to victory as they shut out the Air Force Falcons 6-0 Friday night to open Mountain West Conference play at Lupton Stadium. Arrieta kept the Falcons'(5-16) quiet striking out 11 and allowing only four hits through eight innings.

The only problem Arrieta and Cragin seemed to have from time to time was finding the strike zone. The two walked a combined six players.

"We've been walking way too many guys," Arrieta said.

After taking the play-in game from the New Mexico Lobos on Tuesday night, the men's basketball team was clinging to a possible NCAA Tournament berth. The Horned Frogs season was ended Tuesday afternoon, following a 77-64 loss to the No. 23 BYU Cougars.Odds were against TCU, but the team had won three of the last four games - including an upset over the then No. 14 Air Force Falcons on Feb. 24 - before being disparaged by the Cougars.

Picture this: Two No. 12 seeds upset the No. 5 teams in the East and South Regionals, a No. 10 seed defeats a No. 7 team in the West Regional and a No. 13 seed knocks off the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Regional. Brackets are busted, dreams go up in smoke and the hours spent dissecting matchups go to waste thanks to teams from schools the casual fan would have trouble picking out of a lineup. Sound familiar?

The Horned Frogs baseball team will be traveling to another tournament after a series sweep but will try for a different result this time.The Frogs (10-4) will be competing in the second annual Whataburger College Classic, beginning with a game Friday against the No. 9 Rice Owls (11-7). The team completed the 13th sweep in Lupton Stadium history last weekend against the Vermont Catamounts (0-3).
