TCU (13-6, 5-0 MWC) won its seventh game in a row in a nail-biter over BYU (11-7, 3-1 MWC) at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum Wednesday night, 54-51.

With the shot clock winding down, freshman guard Briesha Wynn had nowhere to go and threw up a prayer.

The shot banked in off the glass and gave TCU a crucial four-point lead with 1:11 remaining in the game.

It was that kind of night for the Lady Frogs - ugly, but rewarding nonetheless.

Producing a new version of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" that replaces the "N-word" with the word "slave" allows the book to continue to reach into the lives of generations to come.

In a society where change and progress are valued, removing offensive terms allows for a more comfortable read.

In classes, students learn equality alongside peers of every race and background. However, confusion swirls when the teacher assigns an highly praised and beloved book for the class and students find racial slurs embedded throughout the text.

Career Services gives students just what they need

Published Jan 19, 2011

The university boasts exceptional resources for students, and Career Services' push to make advising more personalized falls right into line.

Having an adviser for each of the university's colleges is a great idea. Students will now know exactly where to go if they have questions about résumés, job interviews or entering the professional field. Those things are often stressful enough for students without having to navigate multiple offices to find who they need to talk to for answers to their questions.

Flu cases on the rise

Published Jan 18, 2011

The number of flu cases on campus has risen, and the TCU Brown-Lupton Health Center is offering free flu vaccinations to all students.

Health Services Administrator Stacey Simpson said the increase of flu cases was not anything to worry about.

"It is just the winter. People come back from Christmas break with the germs, and it spreads." Simpson said.

Despite the fullness of the Health Center's waiting room, this year's flu season has been shaping up to be better than the 2009-2010 season, Simpson said.

Students should bring back ‘Riff Ram’

Published Jan 18, 2011

As a 1990 TCU graduate and a current graduate student on campus, I am more proud now than I have ever been to be a Horned Frog. I had the great opportunity to be in Pasadena to watch TCU win the Rose Bowl, and celebrating our Rose Bowl championship with a crowd of fans in the Coliseum Sunday afternoon was exciting.

But something was missing at both events: I did not hear Riff Ram, the school's traditional cheer, at either event.
