Gettin' his Shine on

Gettin’ his Shine on

Andrew McCollough graduated from TCU in '05 with a degree in education 8212; but he's not a teacher.

Before he can think about standing in the front of a classroom, he said he has to preach against the grind by rhyming his truth and embracing his life.

After graduation he fell into a job trading stocks for two years before realizing he was happiest writing rap.

"I graduated school, I got a job, I quit my job," Dru said. "Left all the money I was makin'."

Dru said pursuing his music is about risk and sacrificing to do what makes you happiest.

"Jesus Christ," the man said into the phone.

"Yes?" The voice on the other line answered.

"I'm having the busiest day, can you take some of these interviews off my hands?"

"Come on, Tom, you know I don't handle interviews myself."

"I know, but I just thought, this one time8212;"

"No exceptions, you need to get these last few in or out. I know it's Easter, but I can't resurrect your job performance," he replied with a small chuckle.

Tom sighed at hearing the joke for the 15th time and replied, "Fine."

Imagine Neiman Marcus as a giant closet. The assignment: to style your very own fashion show for one of the brand's most anticipated events. Doesn't sound like your typical course curriculum. But that's exactly what it was for students in the promotions principles class of the fashion merchandising program.

Some 400 guests eagerly sat and stood around a runway in the Neiman Marcus store at Ridgmar Mall to get a glimpse of the result of eight weeks of dedication and hard work.

Spike Heels

Sex and spike heels sound like the signatures of an infamous HBO show starring Sarah Jessica Parker and her quartet of cosmo-slinging girlfriends, not a stage play at TCU.

But the theatre department is putting on a show in April that is a little bit edgier than most.

The show, "Spike Heels" by Theresa Rebeck, follows a former prostitute named Georgie, and details her contemporary, real-life encounters with sexual harassment, complicated relationships and power. It has the equivalent of an R rating for sexual content and language.

As history has progressed, the Christian church has used various schemes to get people to go to church. Damnation. Cured ailments. Trendy praise bands. Free Wi-Fi and a coffee bar.

One church in Ohio, however, is cutting straight to the chase. For the second year in a row, Lindenwald Baptist Church will hand out $1,000 in hopes of boosting its Easter service attendance.

According to an article on UPI.com, the congregation plans to randomly draw the names of both a congregation member and a guest and award them $500 each.

CEO compensation is repulsive

CEO compensation is repulsive

Published Mar 28, 2011

It is possible that in group projects, certain members of the group can be twice as efficient as other members and can do more work in helping the group reach its end. And it's only fair that those who have done more work or who have been more efficient should be compensated more for that work.

But it is impossible to find a worker who is 62 times more efficient than another worker, who does 62 times more work than another worker or whose work is 62 times more important than the work of others.
