Don't get me wrong. I am aware that plenty of opposition toward the Catholic Church exists on a variety of different topics. But the one that receives the most attention from anti-Catholic antagonists is the issue of sexual abuse that seems to be running unchecked in the church today.

Earlier this month, Pope Benedict XVI issued a pastoral letter to the church in Ireland apologizing to victims of sexual abuse at the hands of clergy there. However, this letter was met with skepticism and anger by many Catholics, and for good reason.

The university's football program was awarded the Dateline Award by the American Advertising Federation's Fort Worth chapter at a luncheon Thursday.

The award pays tribute to positive media attention brought to Fort Worth by the Horned Frogs' performance in the 2009 season, according to the AAF-Fort Worth Web site.

Journalism is a process, not a product, and just because newspapers may become extinct doesn't mean journalism will as well, said one of three industry entrepreneurs Thursday afternoon as part of the Schieffer School of Journalism Green Chair "Far Out: The Frontiers of Journalism" panel.

"I think too often we equate journalism with the newspaper...journalism is a process, it is a series of things we do," said David Cohn, founder and director of the Web site Spot.us, a nonprofit open source project to pioneer community powered reporting.

The 23-year-old actress filed a $100 million lawsuit against the financial services company, claiming that an ad aired during the Super Bowl and Olympics pokes fun at her substance abuse.

The ad features three talking babies, one of whom is referred to as a "milkaholic," a crack that Lohan says was a shot at her alcoholism.

Currently, students pay a $24 student body fee each semester. This fee covers:

 Major events such as Homecoming, Howdy Week and Family Weekend

 Limited funding for student organizations and sport clubs

 Student services such as airport shuttles during Thanksgiving break

 SGA operating expenses

The fee has remained constant since 2005 - BEFORE the creation of the Campus Commons and the two-year residential living requirement, which changed the culture of our campus.

The university will have a new radio provider for the upcoming football and basketball seasons, an athletics official said.

Mark Cohen, director of athletics media relations, said the university made an agreement Thursday with WBAP 820 AM/96.7 FM in Arlington.

"WBAP has long been a pillar here in Fort Worth," Cohen said, adding that it was Fort Worth's first radio station and was established by Amon G. Carter.

Sophomore Edgar Crespo is set to compete this weekend in the 100-yard breaststroke at the 2010 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Columbus, Ohio, at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the campus of Ohio State University.

After at least 18 swimmers and one coach were hospitalized for gastrointestinal problems, each division of the men's championships has been postponed one day. Saturday marks the new day when Crespo will become the second Horned Frog to compete at the NCAA Championships since 1997.

When taking advice on alcohol and drugs, students are probably more likely to listen to other students than professors or parents. That's the thought behind the creation of a new peer education program called Frogs CARE. The purpose of the group is to increase alcohol and drug awareness.

The university hasn't had a program like this in recent years and, given the prevalence of underage drinking both on and off campus, it's a good idea.

The School for Classical and Contemporary Dance will continue its celebration of 60 years of dance at the Gala Spring Concert this weekend.

Ellen Page Shelton, director of the dance school, said she is very excited both for the concert and the ability to use the Scott Theatre as a venue.

"(It will be) a very diverse and interesting program," she said. "A mix of everything from our classical tutu ballet...to the new works by the guests and Susan Roberts and Elizabeth Gillaspy."
