University and Brite officials meet to negotiate payment

Despite financial disagreements between Brite Divinity School and the university, the institutions will not split up, officials from both parties said.

Brite and university officials will meet today to negotiate costs the university said Brite owes TCU, said Brite President Newell Williams.



Brite paid the university $1.04 million this year, Williams said, but he did not say how much the university charged Brite for the next contract year, which is the amount being negotiated.

SGA to host first town hall meeting

Student Government Association representatives said they hope students attend the first Student Relations Town Hall meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in the student organizations area of the Brown-Lupton University Union so they can measure interest in SGA initiatives.

The SGA's Student Organizations Committee formed the monthly meeting to hear the opinions from the student body and provide direct feedback to questions, SGA Student Relations Committee Chair Myra Mills wrote in an e-mail.

Women’s tennis team falls to Razorbacks 5-2

The No. 29 TCU women's tennis team lost 5-2 to the No. 15 Arkansas Razorbacks on Sunday afternoon at the indoor courts of the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

All three Horned Frogs doubles teams dropped matches to the Razorbacks.



TCU's Kayla Duncan and Nina Munch-Soegaard, nationally ranked as the No. 22 doubles team going into the match, dropped their set 8-6 to Anouk Tigu and Claudine Paulson. Maria Babanova and Katariina Tuohimaa also lost their doubles set 8-6. Idunn Hertzberg and Gaby Mastromarino lost their set 9-7.

After loss in San Diego, women’s basketball team ready to face UNLV

After suffering a tough loss on the road to San Diego State University, TCU women's basketball will return to Daniel-Meyer Coliseum and try to continue their home-court success tonight against UNLV.

Last week, the SDSU Aztecs took control of the game with an intense pace from the start, leading to an uphill battle for the Lady Frogs. Falling 84-61, the loss snapped a four-game winning streak. As a result, TCU has dropped out of the Associated Press Top 25 rankings.

The Horned Frogs (12-15, 4-8 Mountain West) look to bounce back Wednesday night on the road against a strong but inconsistent UNLV team.

TCU lost its earlier meeting with the Runnin' Rebels 79-70 on Jan. 23. UNLV shot nearly 60 percent from the field in that game, and is averaging 74 points per game this season. The Frogs were within two with 1:05 left, but were unable to get any closer.

Frogs take second game in series against Sam, 12-7

The Frogs started off game two of the series against Sam Houston State with a bang, and earned their second victory 7-12.

Freshman Matt Purke started off his first college game strong with his pitching, but walked a player in the first inning. When the bases were loaded with Bearkats, center forward Mark Hudson scored on a balk, bringing Sam Houston up by one.



"It was weird, the umpire said I moved my hands before I stepped off... but [the coaches] all came out and said don't worry about it, keep making pitches," Purke said.

Frogs sweep Sam in opening series

It was an afternoon of home runs and big cheers for the Frogs as the team went 3-0 in their opening series against Sam Houston State.

This weekend's crowd was the largest three-game series in Lupton Stadium, with 8,803 fans in the stands over the course of the weekend.



They certainly were not disappointed.



Kyle Winkler pitched his first game of the season, and said he felt good about it.



"I feel comfortable on the mat, I feel like I'm throwing pretty well," he said.
