Former athlete’s court date set in assault trial

A court date has been set for a former TCU athlete indicted on a charge of aggravated sexual assault by threat, according to the Tarrant County District Clerk's Office.Shannon Monroe Behling, 20, is set to appear in court Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. Behling, a former basketball player, was indicted Tuesday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault by threat, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney's office.

Historic cartography collection comes to North Texas museums

Beginning Nov. 3, people across the state will have the opportunity to experience more than 400 years of Texas history through maps, as a result of TCU's partnership with the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University in Alpine.The exhibit, titled "Going to Texas: Five Centuries of Texas Maps," consists of 64 historic maps from the Yana and Marty Davis map collection dating from 1548 to 2006.

The opponent's team name may have been the All-Stars, but for the Lady Frogs, one player rose above the rest to be their all-star.Behind the 23-point, 12-rebound performance by senior forward Lorie Butler-Rayford, the Lady Frogs ran away with Thursday night's exhibition game against the All-Stars, cruising to a 78-47 win. The All-Stars are comprised of players from around the WNBA.

Butler-Rayford shot 8 for 15 from the field, chipped in four steals and finished as the only TCU player with double-digit points.

Dance showcase to be dedicated to alumna

The School for Classical and Contemporary Dance is presenting its fall concert Friday through Sunday in Ed Landreth Auditorium.Elizabeth Gillaspy, associate professor of ballet, said the dance department plans a fully produced concert every semester that is choreographed by faculty and guest artists.

"It is a concert of five different works," Gillaspy said. "They are all very different and present a wide range of dance styles and techniques."

The post positions for the 2007-08 women's basketball team are loaded with experience heading into this season, the head coach said.Head coach Jeff Mittie said veterans and freshmen will help at both positions.

Mittie said he has found a group of four players - senior Jenna Lohse, juniors Micaela Younger and Lauren Roberts and freshman Micah Garoutte to play center. Garoutte and Roberts are new additions to the squad for this season's campaign.

Thaddaeus Williams had a dream.At 5 feet 11 inches and 280 pounds, Williams, an 18-year-old freshman from MacArthur High School in San Antonio, had enrolled in Hartnell College in Salinas, Calif., with plans of extending his football career.

"When he got there, his personality stood out," said Matt Collins, Hartnell's head football coach. "Just a real happy person, full of energy."

This is where it gets good: After his two years at Hartnell, he wanted to put on the purple and white.

Williams aspired to be a Horned Frog.

My space is being invaded!Calling a Web site MySpace seems like an indication that users have control over what appears. This is far from the truth.

I may sound like a grumpy Gus, but if I get one more friend request on MySpace from some cyber woman named Candy, I will personally track down Tom, drag him into the street and give him the beating he deserves.

I'm sure any MySpace user knows what I'm talking about: the endless amount of spam that clogs up your once-stylish profile, making it an eyesore.

He looked up from the table where the trainer hovered, preparing the players for practice."Yeah, I have lots of goals," sophomore guard Jason Ebie said as a smile crawled across his face. "I have goals of us winning more than 25 games."

Health and depth are commodities the men's basketball team might have been lacking at the guard position, but now that he has both, head coach Neil Dougherty said he intends to use it to the fullest.

Dougherty said he wants to open up the offense and be more aggressive on both sides of the ball.

The niece of a former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver finished her college basketball career at TCU as the career leader in eight different categories. Sandora Irvin, daughter of Michael Irvin, is the NCAA's all-time leader in blocked shots and was the No. 3 overall selection in the 2005 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury.

After leaving TCU as arguably the greatest women's basketball player in school history, Sandora Irvin has returned to the team.
