Frogs pummels New Mexico 26-4

Redshirt sophomore Aaron Schultz's career day at the plate helped the Frogs secure the series victory over New Mexico as they exploded for a 26-4 win Sunday night and establishing a school record with 67 total bases in the contest.

TCU improves to 36-10 on the season and 16-4 in league play. Schultz went 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and seven RBIs. TCU connected for a school-record tying nine home runs in the game.

The No. 19 women's golf team finished eighth to advance to its school record fourth-consecutive NCAA Championship after Saturday's final round of the NCAA East Regional.

The top eight teams from three regionals qualify for the NCAA Championship. The Lady Frogs began play Saturday two strokes out of the top eight. The Horned Frogs proceeded to shoot a 9-over-par 297, tied for the seventh-best score on the day.

Frogs fall short 3-2 against the Lobos

The fourth-ranked TCU Horned Frogs saw their ninth-inning rally fall a run short as they dropped a 3-2 decision to the Lobos Saturday in New Mexico.

The Frogs fall to 35-10 on the season and 15-4 in league play.



The Lobos hit a pair of home runs in the fourth and evened the series at a game apiece. Sophomore pitcher Kyle Winkler tossed his second career complete game and senior first basemen Matt Curry hit his 11th home run of the season.

Advertising professor Mike Wood was honored as Outstanding Advertising Educator for the 2009-2010 school year by the American Advertising Federation convention in April.

Tommy Thomason, director of the Texas Center for Community Journalism and journalism professor who attended the AAF convention in Amarillo, said that upon receiving the award, Wood was met with a standing ovation by the more than 300 advertising students in attendance.

The Horned Frogs men's golf program will look to claim back-to-back Mountain West Conference championships at the Tucson National Golf Resort in Tucson, Arizona, on Thursday.

The Frogs have captured back-to-back tournament championships at the Tucson National Golf Resort as they won the National Invitational Tournament in March as well as the Mountain West Conference championship in May 2009. Over the last five trips to the Tucson National Golf Resort, the Frogs have come away with five top-three showings, including three tournament titles.

Two student journalists remain national finalists for the 2009 Mark of Excellence Awards announced by the Society of Professional Journalists.

Both students are finalists in their category alongside two other candidates.



Senior Julieta Chiquillo was named a finalist in the feature writing category for a profile of economics professor Kiril Tochkov published in the Daily Skiff March 2009. Chiquillo was editor in chief of the Daily Skiff for the spring semester.

Tennis players Kayla Duncan and Christopher Price have been named TCU Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances in helping their respective squads win the Mountain West Conference championships this past weekend.

Both tennis teams posted three straight victories over the weekend in Las Vegas to earn their third MWC tournament titles in only five years as league members. The women's team have now won six MWC titles overall when factoring in regular-season championships, while the men boast five.

Senior wide receiver Jeremy Kerley is a first-team selection at punt returner, while senior center Jake Kirkpatrick is a second-team choice on the offensive line. Senior offensive tackle Marcus Cannon, senior quarterback Andy Dalton and junior placekicker Ross Evans are honorable-mention picks.

The Schieffer School of Journalism's undergraduate programs in journalism and strategic communication received reaccredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.

The ACEJMC, academic agency that establishes standards for journalism and mass communications programs and administers the accrediting process, voted unanimously in a meeting Friday in Arlington, Virginia.
