The university will soon choose a new vice chancellor for student affairs but not before some students and faculty get a chance to meet and speak with each of the final two candidates, a university official said.

The final two candidates for the position, Theresa Powell and Kathryn Cavins-Tull, will be on campus this week to go through the interview process.

Don Mills, the current vice chancellor for student affairs, announced earlier this school year he would vacate his current position to join the College of Education on May 31.

Women's tennis

The TCU women's tennis team defeated the Rice Owls 4-3 after being down 3-0 at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium in Houston on Sunday. With TCU down by three, the Frogs came back by winning four three-set matches at the Nos. 1, 3, 4 and 5 singles spots.

Senior Idunn Hertzberg started TCU's comeback by winning 6-0 in her second and third sets. This is the first time this season that the Frogs (4-6) have won back-to-back matches this season.

The TCU men's tennis fell to No. 31 Oklahoma, 4-3, at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. Sunday.

"We lost a tough one today, but I saw a huge improvement in our team," TCU head coach David Roditi said. "Our goal was to figure out ways to come back in matches after we dropped the opening set and we did that twice today. If we can compete the way we did today, we will have a good conference season and I'm proud of the guys. I think we learned something about our team today."

The Lady Frogs were upended by Oral Roberts, 78-74, in the opening round of the Women's NIT at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum Thursday night, but seniors Helena Sverrisdottir and Emily Carter both made marks in the school's record books during their final game in TCU uniforms.

With the loss, the Horned Frogs closed the year with a 22-11 record, while Oral Roberts improved to 22-10 and advanced to the second round of the WNIT. Overall, the Lady Frogs hoisted 33 triples Thursday night, which ranks No. 3 all-time in a single-game in program history, connecting on 12 of them.

The TCU women's basketball team will continue post-season play against Oral Roberts University in an effort to cage the Golden Eagles and avoid elimination from the Women's National Invitation Tournament. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on Thursday.

During the ESPN NCAA selection show Monday, TCU was not one of the 64 college names revealed in the bracket. Senior guard Helena Sverrisdottir said the team watched just in case they made the tournament; however, they realized their odds of going to the big dance were low.

The TCU women's rifle team improved one spot in the standings to finish third at the NCAA Championships hosted by Columbus State. The Horned Frogs shot a 2,351 in air rifle Saturday to finish third in the discipline. Sarah Scherer had the best individual day, taking home a fourth place finish individually.

Scherer was in second place going into the air rifle finals after firing a 595 in the third relay. In the finals, she shot a 102.0 for a final score of 697.0 which was good enough for a fourth place finish.

The Huskies (0-14) may have drawn first blood with an unearned run in the first inning, but the Frogs quickly took control of the game as TCU (9-4) beat Houston Baptist 7-1 at Lupton Stadium Friday.

Junior pitcher Kyle Winkler pitched for six innings in his fourth straight start. He is now 4-0 for the season. Winkler had 55 strikes on 83 pitches for the night. He has now gone 28 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run.

TCU divers Kyle Callens and Katie Lybbert closed the 2011 season over the weekend at the NCAA Region "D" Diving Championships inside the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

Callens, the TCU record holder on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, finished 15th overall on the 1-meter board with a cumulative score of 567.00. The Deer Park, Texas, native scored a 290.75 in the prelims to qualify for the finals before notching 276.25 points in the finals.
